RNC: Whats with the non-sequitur flag waving?

On the drive home from work, I heard Rtd. Captain Leslie Smith give a short speech. While I sympathize with her medical ordeal, I was scratching (not literally) my head about the point of her speech. Are we that short of "inspirational" military service stories that the story of someone in the military who suffered due to a rare blood disorder also needs to be told?

How exactly does her story in any way have anything to do with JMac's case for being President?

RNC

Every time L'Bush talks, her thank-yous remind me of Kyra Sedgewick. And her manner of speaking at the podium makes me half expect her to say at any time, "And the nominees are..." (oscar style).

Make Wontons, not war!

The long holiday weekend was celebrated by making 180 wontons, and eating them over two days. Our resident Chinese expert taught us how to make the wontons, and then swore at our ineptitude. Addy, who was visiting, was put to work too. Much fun was had by one and all.

Dubya Tribbiani

While channel surfing the other day, I once again heard/saw the old Bushism about OBGYNs. Then it occured to me that perhaps Dubya (like Joey) got conned by someone that that is how indeed its done?

Midweek home-grown jokes

Chandulal was a young man who owned a small shop selling stockings. He was a good man, but a lousy businessman. Soon enough, the business went bankrupt, and one day Chandulal was found sitting outside his now-closed store singing "Sab kuch seekha hamne , na seekhi hosiery.."

A hero by any other name?

The Wired blog reports today that Activision is expanding the Guitar Hero brand to include other instruments. I'm not sure thats such a great idea. One huge reason for Guitar Hero's success is that there is a generation of people who wanted to strum a guitar and look cool, but never could, until Guitar Hero came along.

Now how many people do you know who could say that about French Horns?
